Budapest is a dream city and running around it for 21km was hands down the best way to see it. After a lazy few days sightseeing including a final stretch out run along the Danube (followed by some ridiculously delicious fresh pain au cinnamon .. or something), Emma (see above pic <3) and I were ready to be on the starting line.

We spent the day before the race pruning at the world famous Szechenyi thermal baths, hoping the healing waters would help relieve and muscle tensions and last minute nerves – it did the trick (pseudo effect or otherwise).

And….relax…

After so many months of training the adrenaline got the best of me and I did what I tend to do ran way too fast but then went even faster (I am Bolt) and tapered out as the race carried on- sadly nothing new here. What I do know though is that I really enjoyed the race, I am proud of how far I have come especially running comfortably and still managing to still look relatively presentable (see here). I finished in a respectable but not spectacular 2hrs19. I was very happy, my last race ended up with me not running much for two years – Hey there Surrey half 2014 (2hrs28). You ruined me, well I suppose if I hadn’t lost my keys, got locked out of my house had to sleep at a friends, borrow another friends kit [who lived the other side of London], I may have fared better.. I guess..

Here is the thing about kits – you always have to make sure you can seen.. from space.
