The title above was the quote that got me through today’s run. Beautiful girl, you can do hard things. I woke up tired but a nap during my commute gave me life (and a pepperoni pizza at lunch). I spend the day on a computer (disease surveillance is all about data & databases) and have found that running gives me a chance to be outside, break a sweat and inject some fresh energy into my day. I fell asleep on the way back home and was feeling sluggish and so ready for bed but I laced up, put on my current favorite running music (Kygo), decided on a new route (variety is the spice of life) and off I went. Within 10 minutes the repetitive movement, the heavy breathing and concentrating on the run relaxed me and that feeling of enjoying the run swept over me. I did 4.5 miles and am now sat with a cuppa and those yummy caramel waffles. Yum. I was reminded again that even on the days where I am not feeling it, or it feels hard to lace up I can do it.
For those moments where things feel tougher, I will remember that I can do hard things (and that there is beauty in the struggle…and PB’s).
